History

BBC Studio Managers are at the forefront of live broadcasts, they manage live output to millions of listeners world wide. When a breaking story develops they need to have instant access to control rooms, sat desks and other studios across numerous bases. That’s why for years they’ve shoved bits of paper down the back of ID passes to always have their most important phone numbers to hand when they need them.

We thought there must be a better way, so we bought a professional credit card printer, lanyards and double sided ID holders and created dannycards.

Now there’s a much sexier way to carry your most useful numbers with you all the time. In just a few months word has spread and these are now in use across many areas of BBC radio and television. We offer different types of cards and multiple types of card holder. It’s fair to say every card is personalised your way.

To begin, click on Useful Numbers on the front page to see if we’ve already created a template close to what you want, from there you can also choose the type of card holder, even the type of card it’s printed on. We create each card to order, where you choose which numbers you need. Every card comes with the guarantee that if any numbers change – we’ll print you a new one free of charge.

CAVEAT

This was originally designed for Studio Manager friends at the World Service and has since expanded to people we know and work with at Broadcasting House. This is not a commercial operation, it’s all done well below cost price. In short – if you don’t know/work with us, this won’t be for you.

CREDITS

Many thanks to Victoria Hastings who created an original paper template 6 years ago,  Anna Veale who was the original guinea pig for the credit card designs, Paul Mason for continual layout feedback and Julian Farmer for taking it to a whole new level with some great new designs.
